About MahjongPulse

MahjongPulse is the publication of record for the American mahjong revival. We cover the scene city by city, review the sets and tables that keep hitting the tables, and write the playbooks new players actually need — without the hobbyist hand-waving or the SEO filler you get from most tile-game blogs.

Why we exist

The mahjong game market hit $1.86B in 2024 and is projected to reach $3B by 2035. In Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, and Austin, clubs are exploding and waitlists are real. Yet most of what you can find online is either decades-old rulebook copy or affiliate pages that have clearly never seen a tile. We’re here to close that gap with the same editorial standards you’d expect from a proper food or travel publication — first-hand reporting, honest reviews, and zero tolerance for pay-to-play coverage.

Editorial independence

MahjongPulse earns money from affiliate commissions and newsletter sponsorships. No brand, partner, or sponsor sees our coverage before it publishes, and no sponsor has ever been promised a positive review. If we recommend a set, a table, or a club, it’s because we’d tell a friend the same thing. See our affiliate disclosure for the full mechanics.

Who runs this

MahjongPulse is published by ZEK Ventures, a holding company run by Zach Klempf. Editorial inquiries, tips, and corrections: editorial@mahjongpulse.com.
