MahjongPulse is reader-supported. This page explains how we make money, what that changes about our coverage, and — just as importantly — what it does not.

The short version

Some links to retailers on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. We disclose this at the bottom of every page that contains commercial links, not just here.

We do not accept payment for coverage, we do not accept free product in exchange for a favourable review, and no brand sees a piece before it publishes.

Current status

Amazon Associates. MahjongPulse is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.

Where we link to a specialty retailer such as Yellow Mountain Imports alongside Amazon, we are giving you the choice deliberately. We check both prices before publishing, and where the specialty retailer is cheaper we say so and do not add an Amazon link at all.

How we choose what to recommend

Recommendations come from specification verification, price tracking, and reports from players in the clubs we cover. Where we have not handled a product ourselves, we say so rather than implying hands-on testing we did not do.

Commission rates play no part in ranking. In practice this is easy to demonstrate: our current buying advice sends most readers to a roughly $157 set and tells a meaningful share of them to spend $69.99 on tiles alone, or nothing at all. Those are not the recommendations you make if you are optimising for payout.

Prices

Prices are checked when a piece is published or updated, and the date is stated on the page. Retail prices move. Treat any figure here as a guide, and confirm at the retailer before you buy.

What we will not do

• Accept payment, or free product, in exchange for a review or a ranking.
• Let a brand review, approve, or influence a piece before publication.
• Publish a “best of” list assembled from whatever happens to pay the most.
• Hide, cloak, or disguise an affiliate link.
• Recommend a product we would not recommend to a friend who asked.
